Minnesota Swarm Collect Overtime Win Over Washington

Last night at the XCel Energy Center, the Minnesota Swarm defeated the Washington Stealth in overtime, 11-10, to move on top of the Western Division of the National Lacrosse League.

The victory was the third consecutive one for the Swarm, and they now sport a record of 3-1 on the young season. It was their second consecutive win by one goal, and their first overtime victory since April of 2008. It snapped a five-game overtime losing streak for the Swarm.

Forward Ryan Bensch led the Swarm with five points (three goals, two assists), and also scored the winning goal in overtime.

The Swarm will play their next two games away from Minnesota. They'll head to upstate New York for their next two games, first to take on the Buffalo Bandits on February 4, and then the Rochester Knighthawks on February 12. (The NLL plays one game per week, similar to how the NFL does things.)

We're looking at finding a way to integrate more Swarm coverage into the site. . .for now, you can check out the Swarm's official website, or SB Nation's home for all things lacrosse, In Lax We Trust.
