Yes, the game between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers has been an ugly one. However, based on recent history, we should have expected as much.
Thanks in part to ESPN 1500's Patrick Reusse, we know just how ugly it's been.
In the last two and a half games between the Cornhuskers and the Gophers, Nebraska has scored 138 points.
In that same span, the Gophers have scored exactly. . .zero.
If you want to expand history a bit more, in the last four and a half games between the two teams, the Gophers have scored 20 points. Unfortunately, during that time, the Cornhuskers have scored 260 points, to include the infamous 84-13 whipping that Nebraska laid on the Gophers at the Metrodome back in 1983.
1983 - Nebraska 84, Minnesota 14
1984 - Nebraska 38, Minnesota 7
1989 - Nebraska 48, Minnesota 0
1990 - Nebraska 56, Minnesota 0
2011 - Nebraska 34, Minnesota 0 (thus far)
In fact, the Gophers have not beaten the Cornhuskers since a 26-14 triumph back on September 24, 1960.
And, hey, now that Nebraska is in the Big Ten Twelve Ten, the Gophers will be seeing them a lot more frequently!
Feel free to cry. . .or to laugh to keep from crying. You know, whichever.
