Former Twins Catcher Wilson Ramos Kidnapped In Venezuela

Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has been kidnapped from his home in Venezuela, according to multiple reports on Wednesday night.

As Brian Floyd of SBNation.com notes, the news was reported by Rafael Rojas, who later added confirmation from sources close to the situation and Ramos' Venezuelan team.

Ramos became the Nationals' starting catcher this past season as a rookie, hitting .267 with 15 home runs and 52 RBI. However, his MLB career began with the Minnesota Twins. He received his first major league call-up on May 1, 2010 and batted .296 in seven games with the Twins. However, with Joe Mauer behind the plate, the Twins traded Ramos to the Nationals along with Joe Testa for closer Matt Capps.
