The Minnesota Golden Gophers won again on Tuesday night without their star forward, who is sidelined for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Minnesota topped Central Michigan 76-56 to extend their winning streak to five games. With the win, Minnesota improves to 11-1 on the season.
A balanced and efficient night on the offensive end carried Minnesota, as the team shot a scalding 57.4 % from the field and made 8-17 three-pointers. Guard Julian Welch led the Golden Gophers with 15 points on a tidy 5-9 shooting night while Joe Coleman and Austin Hollins also added 12 points each.
The Golden Gophers will have a week of rest before they take on the 7-2 North Dakota State Bison on Dec. 22 -- their final game before starting the conference schedule on Dec. 27 against the No. 19 Illinois Fightin' Illini.
