Minnesota Vikings 2011 Schedule Will Be Released At 6 PM Central

We've known since the final gun sounded in Detroit on January 2 who the Minnesota Vikings were going to play in 2011 and where they are going to play them. At 6 PM tonight, the National Football League will give us the when of the Minnesota Vikings' 2011 schedule.

The schedule announcement will take place on the NFL Network, as well as on ESPN.

Here are the Vikings' opponents for the 2011 season.

Home Games

Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Arizona Cardinals
Denver Broncos
Oakland Raiders

Away Games

Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Washington Redskins
Kansas City Chiefs
San Diego Chargers

Because the Vikings' inter-conference games are against the AFC West, things are set up a bit differently in order to make travel between teams within a division equal. Teams will not be required to take two trips to the West Coast when other teams in their division don't have to make any.

As it stands now, each NFC North team will be making at least one trip west. The Vikings, as you can see, will travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers. Among the other NFC North teams, the Bears and Lions will both make a trip to Oakland to take on the Raiders, while the NFC North's other team will also have a road trip to San Diego on their schedule.

This all assumes that there will be a 2011 NFL season, of course. . .there almost certainly will be, although both sides seem to have no problem with putting that in as much doubt as possible. But, regardless of whether there will be or not, we will have a schedule at 6 PM Central time this evening.
