The ESPY awards were held this evening. . .you're forgiven if you're not super excited about the whole thing. . .but there was one reason for the state of Minnesota to hold their heads up this evening for the awards ceremony.
↵Swimmer Mallory Weggemann, a native of Eagan, Minnesota, won the ESPY Award for the Best Female Athlete With a Disability at the show at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.
↵Three years ago, Weggemann was paralyzed from the waist down due to complications with an epidural that was meant to treat her lower back pain. Now, she's put her name all over the record books, becoming the holder of 33 American records and 15 world records. Her next stop is going to be the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England.
