In a mildly surprising move, the Minnesota Vikings have released DT Jimmy Kennedy, a productive backup for the Vikings the last two seasons, and have signed UDFA Derrick Locke, a RB from Kentucky.
Releasing Kennedy clears $2.5 million in cap space for the Vikings, who are still over by approximately that amount. Locke will probably compete for a special teams or third string RB slot, as the RB depth appears set with Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart.
