The Vikings and Chargers game has gotten off to quite a start, right from the opening kickoff.
The Vikes won the toss and elected to receive, and Percy Harvin took the opening kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown. It was Harvin’s 4th career kickoff return as a Viking, and it set a team record. Yes, that’s right, in the first game of his third year, Percy Harvin set a career record for kickoff return TD’s.
The Vikings defense looked good on their first series, as they forced a three and out, to include good coverage by S Husain Abdullah on third down.
After the Chargers punted, the Vikings turned the ball over on their first offensive play, as a screen pass by Donovan McNabb was tipped and intercepted by Shaun Phillips. Three plays later, QB Philip Rivers hit RB Mike Scifres for a one yard TD pass.
With a little over 8:00 remaining, the score is tied 7-7.
