Vikings Take 17-7 Second Quarter Lead

After two quick touchdowns, the Vikings and Chargers have settled down into what is unfolding to be a great game. The Vikings defense has looked solid so far, keeping the Chargers high-powered offense in check, for the most part.

Chargers running back Ryan Matthews has had a 21 yard run, and Philip Rivers has a touchdown pass, but that was on a short field. Overall, the Vikes defense is playing some solid football.

On offense, Adrian Peterson has been quiet after an initial run of almost 15 yards, totaling 28 yards total on 12 carries. After his first pass was intercepted, Donovan McNabb has looked pretty good, going 4-6 for 32 yards, including a nice third down strike to WR Michael Jenkins, who has two catches for 23 yards.

The Vikings took the lead on a 14 play, 77 yard drive that was a nice mixture of running and passing, including a nifty third down draw play to get a first down.

Ryan Longwell hit a 33 yard FG for the lead.

After a Chargers three and out, the VIkings truck again for a touchdown after a three play drive. The big play was a 46 yard run by Adrian Peterson, and then on the next play, McNabb hit Michael Jenkins for a three yard TD pass.

Early in the second quarter, the VIkings have opened up a 17-7 lead.
