Twins-Angels: Jared Weaver Late Scratch

Head on over to Twinkie Town, where you can read about the September call ups that might help the Twins close out strong.

The Twins continue their road trip to Anaheim tonight, to face the Los Angeles ANgels, and the Angels schedule starter has been a late scratch.  Jared Weaver has flown home to Oregon to attend his grandfather's funeral, and in his place will be Tyler Chatwood.

Hopefully it's a sign that the Twins can find something...anything...to get on a bit of a roll to close the season, as they close out the worst month of August in franchise history that didn't involve a strike.

The Twins went 7-21 for the month, looking listless and lifeless for much of the month.  They were plagued by injuries, bad hitting, injuries, poor pitching, injuries, a spotty bullpen, and injuries.

A strong finish won't eliminate the disappointment that 2011 has been, but it can be used as a springboard for next season, and Carl Apvano will try and get the month started off right.  Pavano, who is 6-11 with a 4.62 ERA on the year, hasn't been terrible in the second half, but he is still searching for his first win since the All Star Break, over 6 weeks ago.

First pitch from the Left Coast is at 9:05.
