Nearly a quarter of the way through the season the 2011-12 NBA season the Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves outside of the playoff race, but not far enough out that they can totally write this season off. The Timberwolves are sitting a 7-9 overall, which would be good enough to be in the playoffs in the Eastern Conferece. In the tough Western Conference, where ten teams have a winning record so far, the Timberwolves sit in 11th.
Minnesota is two and a half games between Dallas, the Lakers, and San Antonio for the final playoff spots. Houston and Portland are also ahead of Minnesota at 9-7. Canis Hoopus has a look at the team as they reach the quarter pole:
When I discuss good touches and bad touches, Antoine Walker was way ahead of his time in knowing the proper time and place. 'Toine took almost all of his shots either at the rim or from behind the arc. Easily the two most efficient spots on the floor. And that is what I want to look at with our Wolves. Are we applying 'Toine's logic? Or, despite threes being available as a shot selection, should TWolves players be asked why they're taking so many long twos?
