Vikings reaction: Robert Griffin III a tough test for surprising Minnesota

The rookie quarterback will prove a true challenge for the 4-1 Minnesota Vikings.

With a 4-1 start to their 2012 season, the Minnesota Vikings come into their meeting with the Washington Redskins with the confidence that an unexpectedly fast start can bring. But against the Redskins, the fear factor associated with trying to contain a quarterback like Robert Griffin III can stir even the most confident of fans into a frenzy.

Over at the Daily Norseman, the bloggers are worried that they will not only be facing the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, who has proven to be a strong pro right out of the gate, but an embodiment of a video game character come alive.

I am straight up terrified of the guy. Every time he drops back on Sunday I'm going to get the horrible feeling that he's about to run for 40 yards or effortlessly flick a pass to a wide open receiver. I feel like the Vikings will be playing against the real-life version of Madden '04 Michael Vick. I don't even care that he's coming off a concussion and that it's only his sixth game as a professional football player. My fear of RGIII has nearly put me in the fetal position and we're still three days away from the first snap.

In his first five games as a starting quarterback in the NFL, Griffin has compiled four touchdowns on the ground and four in the air, while rushing for 241 and passing for more than 1,100 yards. And despite a concussion suffered, Griffin's fast start is engendering fear among the Vikings faithful.
