Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love could be ready to return to the court in 5-to-6 weeks.

Minnesota Timberwolves star forward Kevin Love might only miss 5 to 6 weeks due to his broken hand, instead of the originally predicted 6 to 8 weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. Love met with a doctor in New York and received the news that his rehab time might be reduced.

Love broke his hand doing knuckle push-ups with personal trainer Rob McClanaghan and found out that he will not need surgery to repair the injury.

Love led the Timberwolves in scoring and rebounding last season with 26.0 points and 13.3 rebounds per game, totals good enough to place him fourth in the league in scoring and second in rebounds. Love earned second team All-NBA honors and finished sixth in MVP voting. He spent the offseason as a member of the 2012 USA Basketball team that took gold in the London Olympics.

The Minnesota Timberwolves begin their season on Nov. 2, when they host the Sacramento Kings.
