The Minnesota Vikings were upset by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, and have plenty of time to get back on the horse. They're sitting at 5-3 on the season, which is still much better than most thought they'd do through eight weeks of the season. Of course, they haven't yet secured that winning season and it can all come crashing down, but smart money is on them continuing to contend.
Still, they're falling in the weekly power rankings around the Internet. Ryan Van Bibber of SB Nation posted his power rankings on Tuesday, and he has the Vikings at No. 11, down two spots from last week.
11. Minnesota Vikings (LW: 9, 5-3): Is the Minnesota Miracle just a mirage? The secondary took a hit with the loss of Chris Cook. Christian Ponder came back to earth. The Vikings were never a serious threat to win the division, but this team should compete for a wildcard spot.
ESPN echoed the sentiment, placing the Vikings at No. 11, down to spots from where they had them. They ask the question of whether or not the Vikings have been overachieving thus far this season. Brian Billick of FOX Sports also has them at No. 11, but he had them at No. 8 previously, so they've dropped three spots. CBS Sports has them the lowest of the major rankings, down at No. 13, down four spots from last week.
