BCS Standings 2012, Week 12: Nebraska, Michigan represent Big Ten in BCS

Nebraska stayed among the ranks of the teams in the BCS Standings while Michigan entered to give the conference two teams in the top 25. Meanwhile, Kansas State and Oregon are the country's top two teams after Alabama's loss.

The Big Ten kept two teams in the Week 12 edition of the BCS standings, but Michigan swapped in for Northwestern after their 38-31 overtime victory over the Wildcats.

Nebraska kept their spot in the rankings, moving up from No. 16 to No. 14 after scoring 12 straight points to beat Penn State 32-23. Northwestern had entered their matchup with Michigan at No. 24, but was still considered a major underdog to beat the Wolverines in the Big House. They almost did, but a deflected Hail Mary caught by Roy Roundtree set up a last-second field goal to send the game into overtime, where they eventually won. After being unranked, Michigan is now No. 21.

The real drama in the standings this week came at the top, with Kansas State taking over the top spot and Oregon slotted in at No. 2. The two teams are more or less even and could swap over the next few weeks, but the important thing is that they'd both appear in a hypothetical national title game if it happened today. No. 3 Notre Dame will need some help from one of them in the form of a loss, while Alabama fell to No. 4 with their loss to Texas A&M, likely ending their hopes of repeating.
