Questions arose regarding the health status of Adrian Peterson when reports surfaced Sunday morning that the Vikings star running back was not on the team bus to Soldier Field.
But Peterson's health was not an issue. There was no mystery ailment. There was no conspiracy surrounding the team's injury report. There was actually a very simple explanation: Peterson was tardy and missed the bus.
Instead, Peterson was forced to take a cab to Soldier Field, where he then met up with his team.
It's humorous to think of the amazing, NFL star Adrian Peterson making a mistake usually reserved for 10-year old school children, but, writes Mark Craig of the Minnesota Star Tribune, head coach Leslie Frazier did not find the situation funny.
"There's something Adrian and I have to talk about regarding getting to the stadium," said Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, who clearly was not amused.
Peterson did not think his missing the bus was a big deal, saying the focus should instead be on the Vikings' loss.
"Me and Coach actually haven't had the opportunity to talk about it. It really wasn't a big deal. Came out and played. What's important is what can we do to come back and get back on track. That's going to be our main focus."
The cab-faring Peterson and the Vikings dropped to 6-5 with the loss and stand on the outside looking in at the NFC playoff picture.
