The Timberwolves got a huge game from Nikola Pekovic en route to a 113-102 victory Friday over the Hornets.
Pekovic scored a game-high 31 points on a 14-of-18 shooting and double-doubles from Andrei Kirilenko (21 pointss and 11 rebounds) and Luke Ridnour (!5 points and 10 assists). Kevin Love chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds but had a poor shooting night overall, hitting only four of 18 shot attempts.
The Hornets got a career-high 27 points from Austin Rivers, 17 assists from Greivis Vasquez and 20 points from Ryan Anderson. Top overall pick Anthony Davis recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
With the win, the T-Wolves maintained their second-place standing in the Northwest Division behind the division-leading Thunder, who dropped the Kings, 113-103, on Friday. Elsewhere in the division, the third-place Jazz fell to the Suns, 99-84, and the fourth-place Nuggets defeated the Grizzlies, 99-94.
Around the NBA, the Lakers ended their four-game losing streak with a 102-96 win over the Wizards, the Rockets dropped the Celtics, 101-89, and the Magic defeated the Warriors, 99-85.
