FCS playoffs 2012 bracket: Final eight teams are set

Eight teams advanced to the FCS Tournament quarterfinals Saturday.

Eight teams advanced to the FCS Tournament quarterfinals with wins on Saturday, including all of the top-seeded teams. The last two FCS champions, North Dakota State and Eastern Washington, are both still alive.

No. 1 North Dakota State beat South Dakota State 28-3. No. 2 Eastern Washington beat Wagner 29-19. No. 3 Montana State beat Stony Brook 16-10. No. 4 Old Dominion beat Coastal Carolina 63-35. No. 5 Georgia Southern beat Central Arkansas 24-16.

Among unranked teams, Wofford beat New Hampshire 23-7, Sam Houston State beat Cal Poly 18-16 and Illinois State beat Appalachian State 38-37. Although both Illinois State and Appalachian State were unranked, that game was a mild upset considering Appalachian State has won three national titles in the last seven years.

Quarterfinal games will be Dec. 7-8. Matchups will be No. 1 North Dakota State vs. Wofford; No. 2 Eastern Washington vs. Illinois State; No. 3 Montana State vs. Sam Houston State; and No. 4 Old Dominion vs. No. 5 Georgia Southern.

See the complete bracket here. North Dakota State won the FCS championship last season. Eastern Washington won the championship in 2010. Georgia Southern has won two FCS championships since 1999.
