NCAA Wrestling Championships 2012: Bracket Sets Up Difficult Finals Matches For Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are still in second place after the second of the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships, but the big test will come during the completion of the bracket on Saturday evening. Two Gophers were able to advance to the finals of their weight class and will be looking to add a title to their résumé.

149-pounder Dylan Ness and heavyweight Tony Nelson are both undefeated through the first two days of the event. Ness picked up an 8-5 decision victory over Tyler Nauman of Pittsburgh while Nelson gave Oregon's Clayton Jack his second loss of the season with a 4-3 decision victory.

Ness will face Penn State's Frank Molinaro in the 149 pound championship match, a man he's lost to three times already this season, while Nelson will be matched up against defending heavyweight champion Zach Rey of Lehigh.

Zach Sanders, Chris Dardanes, Logan Storley, Kevin Steinhaus and Sonny Yohn will also be wrestling on Saturday, albeit in the consolation bracket. If they're able to pick up a win, they're move on to wrestle for third place; with a loss, they'll be in contention for fifth place.

Full brackets for the tournament are located here. For more on the Minnesota Golden Gophers, check out The Daily Gopher.
