Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of year once again. It's the Super Bowl of wrestling, as the WWE is set to host Wrestlemania XXVIII (or 28, for you non-Romans) at SunLife Stadium in beautiful Miami, Florida.
As SB Nation Minnesota's resident wrestling nerd historian, and with Minnesota's long and storied history of involvement in professional wrestling (even though there isn't a whole lot of involvement with this year's Wrestlemania), I thought it only proper that we give sports entertainment's biggest event the proper treatment. So, you'll be getting previews of all the matches, including who I think will end up on top, as well as match-by-match results while the event itself is taking place.
At this point in time, eight matches have been announced for the big show. We'll be previewing them throughout the rest of the week leading to Sunday in order of importance. . .well, as I perceive them, anyway. . .with the preview of the big main event coming last. These are the matches that are on the card.
Once In A Lifetime - John Cena vs. The Rock
End of an Era - Triple H vs. The Undertaker (Hell in a Cell Match)
WWE Championship Match - C.M. Punk (champion) vs. Chris Jericho
World Heavyweight Championship Match - Daniel Bryan (champion) vs. Sheamus
General Manager vs. General Manager - Team Johnny (Mark Henry, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, David Otunga, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler) vs. Team Teddy (The Great Khali, Kofi Kingston, Santino Marella, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, Booker T) - Winning GM gets control of both Raw and Smackdown
Intercontinental Championship Match - Cody Rhodes (champion) vs. The Big Show
Because They Needed A Match Match - Randy Orton vs. Kane
Obligatory Divas/Celebrity Match - Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres vs. Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos
We hope you enjoy the preview, and hopefully you'll enjoy the show on Sunday as well.
