The Minnesota Golden Gophers didn't look the top seed in the 2012 Big Ten Wrestling Championships after the first session on Saturday, but they obviously rebounded quite well. The Gophers ended the first day as the tournament leaders with five wrestlers scheduled to participate in the championship rounds.
Zach Sanders, Dylan Ness Logan Storley, Kevin Steinhaus and Tony Nelson will all wrestle for the championship on Sunday afternoon in matches scheduled to be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Chris Dardanes, Sonny Yohn and Cody Yohn were all able to win both of their wrestleback matches and therefore have a chance to wrestle for third place on Saturday afternoon.
Considering the Gophers have eight wrestlers in contention for, at worst, third place, Minnesota is obviously in a good position for Sunday afternoon. Though it didn't look like the greatest start with a third place finish following Saturday morning's session, the team looks like it'll be able to finish strong.
