Minnesota Swarm Clinch Third Seed In NLL Western Conference Playoffs

We already knew that the Minnesota Swarm were going to be in the National Lacross League playoffs, as they clinched a spot last week with their victory over the Washington Stealth. After defeating the Philadelphia Wings on "The Hive Cares" night at Treasure Island Field, we know not only where the Swarm will be seeded, but who they will meet in the first round of post-season play.

The Swarm's victory on Saturday night, coupled with the Calgary Roughnecks 9-6 victory over the Edmonton Rush, gave the Swarm the third seed in the NLL's Western Conference playoffs. The Roughnecks clinched the top spot in the Western Conference, and the top seed in the NLL playoffs overall. Calgary and Edmonton will face off in the first round of the NLL Western Conference playoffs on the weekend of May 4-6.

The number two seed, and the team that the Swarm will face in the first round, also happens to be the team that the Swarm will host in Saturday's regular season finale, the Colorado Mammoth. This could be considered bad news for the Swarm, as they have not had much success against Colorado this season. The two teams have faced off twice, with the wooly ones coming out on top both times. . .Colorado scored a 20-14 victory in Denver back on January 14, and a 12-7 win at Treasure Island Field on February 18.

If you want to get a playoff preview, the Swarm and Mammoth will face off at Treasure Island Field on Saturday, April 28 in the regular season finale for both teams. You can get tickets at the XCel Energy Center box office or through the Minnesota Swarm's website, as well as Ticketmaster locations throughout the Twin Cities area. If you can't make it to the game, and you have it as part of your cable package, the game will also be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
