Lynx Vs. Liberty Preview: Minnesota Attempts To Recover From First Loss

The Minnesota Lynx suffered their first defeat of the season against the Seattle Storm, and they're looking to rebound on Thursday against the New York Liberty.

The Minnesota Lynx are no longer unbeaten on the season, but they still sport a 10-1 record following their 65-62 loss to the Seattle Storm on Sunday. They've looked unbeatable more than once this season, so it was somewhat surprising to see the loss, but it was naive to think they could have went a full season without suffering a loss, with or without their WNBA championship run a season ago.

Now, they're set to face a dangerous opponent - the New York Liberty, who were the last team to beat the Lynx prior to the loss to the Storm. New York bested Minnesota by 16 points last September, though it's debatable how much knowing that will help them given their present struggles.

Those struggles manifest in the form of their most recent loss, a poor outing against the Eastern Conference-leading Connecticut Sun a week ago. That game ended up 97-55 in the Sun's favor so New York will certainly be looking to rebound. That being said, they're winners in five of their last seven outings so there is still a bit of momentum there.

Minnesota should be plenty confident despite suffering their first loss. Their 10-0 start was the best in WNBA history and they recovered well in their losing effort. After all, they only fell by three points after trailing by as many as 17 in the second quarter. Maya Moore missed the buzzer beater to send it into overtime, though.

The Lynx are unbeaten at home, though their last loss at home was the aforementioned loss to New York back in September. As it stands now, they've won 11-straight games at home. They'll try to make it 12 on Thursday, and it's all set to go down at 8:00 p.m. eastern.
