With the French Open in the books, Wimbledon is now just around the corner. The King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, reinforced that nickname with a thrilling, though somewhat controversial, victory over Novak Djokovic. Now just about two weeks later, Wimbledon is just about to get underway.
On Wednesday, the official seeding for the tournament was announced on Wimbledon.com, and Minnesota's Mardy Fish is in the top ten. He actually comes in right at No. 10. The top ten for the Gentlemen's Single's is below:
- Novak Djokovic (SRB) [1]
- Rafael Nadal (ESP) [2]
- Roger Federer (SUI) [3]
- Andy Murray (GBR) [4]
- Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) [5]
- Tomas Berdych (CZE) [6]
- David Ferrer (ESP) [7]
- Janko Tipsarevic (SRB) [8]
- Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG) [9]
- Mardy Fish (USA) [10]
Fish is coming in the seeding ahead of two players who are presently ranked higher than him on the ATP World Tour: John Isner and Nicolas Almagro. Isner, also of the USA, is ranked at No. 10 in the official rankings while Almagro comes in at No. 11. Fish occupies the No. 12 spot, but is above them both in the seeding.
