Mardy Fish cruised to a straight-set victory in his first-round match at Wimbledon.
Fish, a 30-year-old from Edina, Minn., was pitted against Spaniard Ruben Ramirez. Two of the sets went to tie-breakers, but Fish was able to pull out the 7-6 (7-3), 7-5, 7-6 (7-1) win.
Fish, the No. 10 seed at this year's Wimbledon, will play either James Ward (Great Britain) or Pablo Andujar (Spain) in the next round.
Fish's win over Ramirez was thorough. Fish had 24 aces to Ramirez's four, and 61 winners to Ramizer's 18. Fish also had an average first-serve speed of 114 MPH, 8 MPH higher than Ramirez.
