On Tuesday, Rafael Nadal bounced back from a rough start to defeat his first round opponent Thomaz Bellucci in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2, 6-3. Rafa fell behind early 3-0, only to come into form and punch his ticket to the second round of the 2012 Wimbledon Championship.
In addition to Nadal, Serena Williams also won her first round match against Barbora Zahlahova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Williams won the first set easily but struggled through the second set as she was broken twice. Ultimately, she composed herself and battled her way back to the victory. Williams will face the winner of the match between Johanna Larsson and Melinda Czink in the second round.
