Vikings Punter Chris Kluwe Speaks Up For Same Sex Marriages

Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has spoken up in support of same-sex marriage recently, recording three 30-second radio spots for Minnesotans For Equality.

The first spot after the jump:

He also spoke to Jim Buzinski of OutSports.com (via Howard Sinker of The Star Tribune) about homosexuality in sports. One excerpt:

Outsports: Do you think it would be possible on the Vikings for someone under the right circumstances to come out publicly?

Kluwe: Yeah, I think it would. It would have to be someone who's courageous and strong enough to withstand the inevitable abuse and insults that will come their way. It's not going to be easy. But inside the locker room, I would do my part to make it as welcoming an environment as I could and I would definitely speak up if anyone tried to do anything negative there.

Buzinski says one of wife's brothers and his partner would like to get married in California but cannot. He also says he'd be involved in the issue regardless of the fact he has a gay relative. You can read the full Q&A at OutSports.com.
