Wimbledon Scores 2012: Serena Williams Advances To Next Round

On Monday afternoon, Serena Williams advanced to the Quarterfinals round of the 2012 Wimbledon Tournament by defeating Yaroslava Shvedova, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 on Court 2 in the morning's first match.

Serena's sister Venus was surprisingly eliminated in the first round of the tournament and at times, Serena appeared as though she would be joining her on the sidelines.

However, Williams managed to pull it together after a difficult second set in order to reach the next round. Williams will now face the winner of the match between Francesca Schiavone and Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals. SB Nation's own Bill Connelly predicts that match should go the way of Kvitova, setting up Williams with Wimbledon's reigning champ.

The full schedule and brackets can each be found at Wimbledon's official site.
