The Minnesota Twins are looking to win their fourth straight game tonight at Comerica Park. After five innings, they lead Game 1 of their series against the Detroit Tigers 6-4.
The Twins trailed 1-0 after three innings and then their bats caught fire. Ben Revere, Joe Mauer and Josh Willingham hit consecutive singles off Doug Fister and suddenly the game was tied at one. Trevor Plouffe scored Mauer and Willingham on a single, then Ryan Doumit's single scoured Plouffe and Minnesota was up 4-1 after four.
Mauer and Justin Morneau added RBI-singles in the fifth inning to make it 6-1, before a two run double from the Tigers' Miguel Cabrera cut the lead to 6-3.
Starting pitcher Liam Hendriks gave up three runs and six hits in four innings. He was pulled in the fifth before recording an out, replaced by Anthony Swarzak. Hendricks is winless in 12 MLB starts.
Delmon Young's sac fly off Swarzak made it 6-4 heading into the sixth.
