Minnesota Native Megan Kalmone Helps USA Win Bronze Medal In Quadruple Sculls Event

There has been some Olympic silverware provided for Minnesotans already in the 2012 London Olympics with University of Minnesota diver Kelci Bryant earning herself a gold medal in the synchronized diving event along with her partner Abigail Johnson back on Sunday.

Now there's another Minnesota name on the medal count list, with Minneapolis native Megan Kalmone a part of the American squad who took home the bronze medal in the Quadruple Sculls rowing event on Tuesday. The third place finish came behind Germany, who have traditionally dominated that event and lost the gold medal for only the second time since the quad sculls was added to the Olympic rowing events back in 1988, and the gold medal winning Ukraine.

The winning time for the Ukranians was 6 minutes, 35.93 seconds.
