Adrian Peterson Aiming To Return For Season Opener

Not eight months removed from reconstructive surgery on his left knee, Adrian Peterson returned to the Vikings practice field Tuesday in shoulder pads and shorts. Coach Leslie Frazier had his defense under strict orders not to touch Peterson, but that doesn't mean AP doesn't want the contact:

"Oh, I'm going to lower my shoulders," Peterson said, grinning. "Those guys probably are going to get tired of touching off and get tired of me putting my shoulder into them. So, they'll start firing back, and that's pretty much what I wanted to do."

Peterson took part in 10 snaps, carrying the ball twice, and did everything without a brace on his left knee. Frazier and his staff don't plan on allowing Peterson to participate in practice Wednesday, but AP sounds set on making it back for the Sept. 9 opener with Jacksonville.
