2012 U.S. Open Scores: Defending Champion Samantha Stosur Rolls Through Round One

Samantha Stosur began her U.S. Open title defense Monday in dominating fashion by defeating her first round opponent Petra Martic in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-1.

Stosur's match is one of only four matches completed so far. Lucie Hradecka, Casey Dellacqua and Anna Tatishvili have also advanced into the second round, all winning in straight sets.

On the men's side, Olympic gold medalist and tournament third seed Andy Murray is currently in action, leading Alex Bogomolov Jr. 3-2 in the first set. American James Blake is also underway, currently leading Lukas Lacko two sets to none midway through the third set.

Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer begin their tournament's later on. Sharapova, the women's third seed, will face Melinda Czink, while the top seeded Federer will square off against the American Donald Young.

Minnesota native Mardy Fish will begin his tournament tonight against Go Soeda of Japan. Fish is the No. 23 ranking on the men's side.
