2012 Olympic Basketball: Russia Defeats Spain In London, 77-74

Russia defeated Spain at the London Olympic Games on Saturday, 77-74. Timberwolves players Andrei Kirilenko and Alexey Shved only combined for eight points in the game, but Vitaliy Fridzon's 24 points led the way for Russia in the winning effort.

Pau Gasol scored a team-high 20 points for Spain, while his brother Marc and Rudy Fernandez chipped in 10 points apiece. The Spaniards had the opportunity at the end of the game to either tie or take the lead, but there was a broken play that failed to go the length of the court.

Russia and Spain were close in most statistical categories, but Russia had the advantage in assists with 19 compared to Spain's 12.
