London Olympics 2012: Russia Takes Down Lithuania 83-74

Most people in America are probably going to wait until the evening to get their Olympic basketball fix, as Team USA takes on the Australians in the final quarterfinals match of the evening. They missed out though if they didn't turn on the early game between Russia and Lithuania, which provided some great basketball as Russia eventually took an 83-74 win in a game that was closer for most of it than the final score would indicate.

Russia got some assistance from two Timberwolves players, with the game MVP probably being new Wolves forward Andrei Kirilenko. Andrei put up a team high 19 points for the Russians in38 minutes of time on the court, a point total only matched by Rimantas Kaukenas of Lithuania during the game. Alexey Shved also got some good minutes on the court, putting up four points and six assists in 28 minutes.

Three more basketball games await in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, hopefully they'll all provide the same good play that the morning game did, right up until and during Team USA's match at 5:15 p.m. Eastern time.
