The 2011 WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx will visit the White House on Tuesday to be honored by President Barack Obama, according to the team (via Tim Leighton of TwinCities.com).

The Lynx went 27-7 during the 2011 regular season, and won playoff series over the San Antonio Silver Stars, Phoenix Mercury and Atlanta Dream, capturing the franchise's first WNBA title. In addition to their solid effort on the court, President Obama will honor the team's contributions off the court, as the Lynx played a big part in supporting health and wellness programs throughout the community.

The Lynx are putting themselves in a position for another visit to the nation's capital, as they currently sit at 24-5 this season, while already clinching home-court advantage for the Western Conference playoffs.
