With problems stretching across the conference, the Big Ten has landed just two teams in the USA Today Coaches' Poll this week, the 20th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers and the 22nd-ranked Northwestern Wildcats. These rankings do omit the unbeaten Ohio State Buckeyes, though, due to recent NCAA violations.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers may have missed an opportunity to appear in the top 25 for the first time since 2008 this week. Entering Saturday's game unbeaten, Minnesota lost 31-13 to a previously struggling Iowa Hawkeyes team, one week after the Gophers received 11 votes in the Coaches' Poll.
Other than the Cornhuskers and Wildcats, the Michigan State Spartans, Michigan Wolverines, Wisconsin Badgers and Purdue Boilermakers all received votes to land in the top 25. Michigan State was ranked last week, but it's dropped out after a 17-16 loss at home to Ohio State.
After having their unbeaten season spoiled on Saturday, Minnesota will have the chance to do the same to Northwestern next Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
