2012 U.S. Open Score Update: David Ferrer Advances Over Janko Tipsarevic

Fourth-seeded David Ferrer advanced to his second U.S. Open semifinal on Thursday, beating Janko Tipsarevic in a fifth set tie-break. Scores in the sets were 6-3, 6-7, 2-6, 6-3 and 7-6.

Ferrer was able to keep his serve speed where it needed to be, averaging 113mph, good enough to gain 15 aces to Tipsarevic's 10. Tipsarevic got the edge in double-faults, managing to avoid picking up any while Ferrer collected six. Ferrer did manage to come out ahead on unforced errors, 44 to 58, as well as on total points won, 173 to 159.

Ferrer now moves on to face the winner of No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic vs. No. 7 seed Martin Del Potro, which was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.
