Outdoor college hockey heads to Soldier Field for the first time this Sunday, as the Minnesota Golden Gophers get set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a Big 10 showdown in Chicago, Ill. A two-game matchup with the Badgers this weekend will be the second series between the two this season.
After splitting its series with St. Cloud State last weekend, Minnesota dropped to No. 2 in the rankings, losing ground to Quinnipiac. Minnesota now 19-5-4 overall.
The Golden Gophers finished in a 2-2 tie with the Badgers in their first game and followed that up with a 3-1 victory at Mariucci Arena. Wisconsin currently sits at No. 18 in the nation.
The puck drops on Friday at 7:05 CT at the Kohl Center in Madison. Both teams will travel to Chicago afterwards for a 3:30 CT meeting on Sunday at the Hockey City Classic. No. 3 Miami will face No. 12 Notre Dame at 12:00 p.m. CT at Soldier Field in the first of two games for the event.
No. 5 New Hampshire will take on No. 5 ranked Boston College on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. ET. The top-ranked Quinnipiac has two matchups with St. Lawrence and Clarkson respectively. Minnesota will keep its fingers crossed that the No. 1 team drops a game or two.
