2012 College Hockey schedule: Minnesota, Minnesota State neck-and-neck

We break down the NCAA hockey schedule for March 1

Jonathan Daniel

On Friday, March 1, fans are expecting a big day of college hockey.

Friday, 7:05 CT

Denver at Minnesota

Friday, 7:05 CT

Alabama-Huntsville at Minnesota-Duluth

Friday, 7:35 MT

Minnesota State at Colorado College

Minnesota (21-6-5) is 1-1-1 in its last three games, coming off a recent overtime tie with Minnesota-Duluth on the road. And even though they've been stammering over the past few match-ups, the team is in great shape going forward. The Golden Gophers consistently put a good team on the ice, and the team is in good hands with Don Lucia.

The Gophers will look to pickup some steam against Denver this evening.

Minnesota-Duluth (10-17-5) has faltered as of recent, going 0-1-2 in its past three games. Duluth is well below .500 at this point, struggling to win on the road and at home. Fortunately for them, Alabama-Huntsville (3-19-1) is considerably worse than they are.

The Bulldogs have a good chance to topple the Chargers and collect some wins in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

Minnesota State (20-9-3) has been just has dangerous as Minnesota this year, and are the hotter team at the moment. Minnesota State is 3-0 in the team's last three games, with a below .500 Tigers team on the horizon. If they carry this momentum forward, the Mavericks could be competing for a National Championship this year.
