2013 NIT Tournament bracket: Kentucky No. 1 overall seed

John Calipari has his team aiming for the NIT Championship this season. Here's a look at their road, along with the rest of the field for the invitational.

USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 National Invitation Tournament is set with 32 teams locked in the bracket. Kentucky, last year's NCAA Tournament champion, received the No. 1 overall seed for the NIT after finishing 21-11 in regular season play.

John Calipari saw multiple players head for the NBA after Kentucky's title run in 2012. Add in an injury to top recruit Nerlens Noel, and his Wildcats are no strangers to adversity this season. Kentucky will face No. 8 Robert Morris Tuesday night in the opening round of tournament play.

Alabama, Southern Miss and Virginia round out the four No. 1 seeds for the NIT.

The Big 10 received seven bids for the NCAA Tournament, but only one team from the conference will be on display in NIT action. Iowa enters as a No. 3, ready to face Indiana State in Round 1.
