NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 predictions: Miami expected to beat Marquette

There may not be many upsets in the cards in the Sweet 16, as experts believe this round will mostly go the way of the higher seeds.

USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA Tournament continues on Thursday with the Sweet 16 games. By this point, most of us have already given up on our brackets, and are just looking to watch some entertaining basketball if/when Florida Gulf Coast gets eliminated.

CBS Sports' panel of experts unanimously believes that the No. 2 Miami Hurricanes will get past the No. 3 Marquette Golden Eagles, despite the loss of senior big man Reggie Johnson. They're also universal in their predictions that the No.2 Duke Blue Devils will defeat the No. 3 Michigan St. Spartans, the No. 3 Florida Gators will dispatch the No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, and the No. 1 Louisville Cardinals will take care of the No. 12 Oregon Ducks. Lastly, all four believe the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines will knock off the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks.

There is dissent in the other matchups. CBS' panel is evenly split between the No. 2 Ohio St. Buckeyes and No. 6 Arizona Wildcats, with Matt Norlander and Jeff Goodman. Norlander is also the only one who believes the No. 4 Syracuse Orange will beat the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers. Goodman and Jeff Borzello like the No. 13 La Salle Explorers to beat the No. 9 Wichita St. Shockers.
