With only four teams left in this year's NCAA Tournament, the action will resume Saturday night in Atlanta. Michigan will try and take one step closer to becoming the first Big Ten club to claim the title since 2000.

Although your bracket was busted weeks ago, the NCAA Tournament will still resume action on Saturday night with a pair of Final Four games from Atlanta. Michigan will try to take another step towards ending the Big Ten's 13-year NCAA Tournament title drought in the night-cap against Syracuse, while Louisville will take on Wichita State in the opener.

For more on the story, visit Card Chronicle and Mid Major Madness

Starting with the first game, Louisville will enter the evening as a heavy favorite against Wichita State, a club which advanced to the Final Four in Atlanta as the No. 9 seed out of the West Region. For the Shockers to somehow pull the upset on Saturday, they'll need to slow down a red-hot Louisville team that has averaged 80.5 points per game in NCAA Tournament play. The Cardinals scored a tournament-high 85 points in their last outing, in an 18-point beat down of the Midwest's No. 2 seed, Duke.

And in the night cap, Michigan will try to do what no Big Ten team has done since the Michigan State Spartans in 2000, and that's claim a college basketball title.

The Wolverines have talent all over the court, but are led by point guard Trey Burke who was named the Wooden Award winner as National Player of the Year on Friday afternoon. Burke averaged just under 19 points and seven assists this season, and is coming off a 15-point, seven assist performance against Florida in Sunday's regional final.

The winners of Saturday's semifinal games will met in Monday night's championship game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to acquire "established talent" prior to the trade deadline, according to Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski.
However, for Minnesota, injuries and contracts could play a role in their ability to make moves prior to the trade deadline, as Fox Sports North's Joan Niesen wrote on Tuesday.

Looking at the Timberwolves roster, both Malcolm Lee and Brandon Roy are likely out for the season, and Chase Budinger and Kevin Love will also be sidelined with injuries until March, according to Niesen. Of the healthy players on the roster, no one makes more than Nikola Pekovic's $4.8 million, meaning it would take multiple pieces to get one veteran in return.

And because of these variables, it seems unlikely that any big-name veteran will come back to Minnesota in a trade.

ESPN 1500's Darren Wolfson tweeted on Tuesday that Josh Smith and J.J. Hickson are not in the Timberwolves trade plans, and that J.J. Redick is unlikely as well.

With five wins in their last seven games, the Minnesota Timberwolves are quietly one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. They currently sit in sixth place in the Western Conference and in second place in the Northwest Division.

While teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies get all the headlines in the Western Conference, few are playing better than the Minnesota Timberwolves right now. Minnesota has won five of their last seven games, after notching a statement 99-93 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.

In that game, Kevin Love again proved that he is one of the most versatile players in the NBA, tallying 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds and seven assists. Point guard Alexey Shved added 12 points and 12 assists, while J.J. Barea added 18 points off the bench. Minnesota's victory snapped a 12-game win streak for Oklahoma City.

It also moved Minnesota to within seven games in the Western Conference's Northwest Division standings. The Timberwolves currently sit in second place in the division, and entering Saturday are a half game ahead of both Denver and Utah who are tied for third place. At 12-12 overall, Portland is in last place in the division.

In addition, Thursday night's win over Oklahoma City also put Minnesota into sixth place overall in the Western Conference. If the postseason started today, they would face third place Memphis in the first round.

Thanks to three wins in their last four games, the Minnesota Timberwolves are now only six games back in the Northwest Division standings. Oklahoma City is 16-4 overall and atop the division.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now, and are slowly moving up the Northwest Division standings because of it. Minnesota has won three of their last four games, including Friday night's victory over Cleveland.

The difference has been the return of Kevin Love, who re-entered the lineup nine games ago, after suffering an off-season injury. Love is averaging 21.2 points and 14.2 rebounds this season, and had a season-high 36 points in Friday's 91-73 win.

And with the win, Minnesota has now moved to 9-9 overall and within six games of Northwest Division leading Oklahoma City. The Thunder sit at 16-4 after Friday's win over the Lakers, while Utah is 11-10 overall and 5.5 games back. Denver (10-10) is tied with Minnesota for fourth in the division, while Portland is in last place at 8-11 overall.

And for Minnesota, things should only get better with a very manageable schedule ahead of them.

The Timberwolves don't play against until Wednesday when they host Denver, and then play three straight games against below .500 teams. They'll face off against Dallas, New Orleans and Orlando before heading to Miami on December 18.

Playing without a handful of key players, the Minnesota Timberwolves fell to the Golden State Warriors 106-98 Friday night in Minnesota.
Minnesota entered Friday night's game short-handed, but should be more healthy the next time they take the court Wednesday night against Denver.

The Timberwolves have been without starters Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love since the preseason, and on Friday Minnesota was also forced to play without leading scorer Nikola Pekovic, as well as Brandon Roy who leads the team in assists. Pekovic is listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury, while Roy was out Friday with a sore knee.

The loss dropped Minnesota's record to 5-4, which puts them 1.5 games behind Oklahoma City in the Northwest Division standings, and sixth overall in the Western Conference.

Trailing the Timberwolves in the Northwest Division are the Nuggets and Trailblazers (who are 4-5 each) and Utah, which entered Saturday 4-6 overall.

After jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead, it's all been downhill for Minnesota, which trails Michigan 21-7 after three quarters.

For the Gophers, things started out promising, as just seconds into the second quarter Minnesota took a 7-0 lead on a touchdown pass from quarterback Philip Nelson to senior receiver John Rabe. The play capped a six-play, 43-yard drive and had the Gophers believing they'd take home the Little Brown Jug for the first time since 2005.

Unfortunately since then, it's been all downhill for Minnesota.

With quarterback Devin Gardner starting for an injured Denard Robinson, Michigan's offense caught fire starting in the second quarter and has put up 21 unanswered points since the Gophers' initial score. The Wolverines' third score of the game came late in the third quarter, on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Gardner to wide receiver Jeremy Gallon.

For Minnesota, this is an important game, as at 5-3 it is now just one victory away from gaining bowl eligibility for the first time since 2009.

But trailing by two touchdowns with just 15 minutes to play, the Gophers certainly have their work cut out for them.

Minnesota has some work to do if they're going to regain the Little Brown Jug for the first time since 2005, as they trail Michigan 14-7 at halftime.

After a slow start, both teams did all their scoring in the second quarter.

For Minnesota, their only points came just seconds into the second period, when freshman quarterback Philip Nelson found senior John Rabe for a touchdown score. It capped a six-play, 43-yard drive for the Gophers, who at 5-3 this season, are looking to secure bowl eligibility for the first time since 2009.

Unfortunately from there, Michigan scored the last 14 points to close out the first half.

The Wolverines' first score came following Rabe's touchdown catch, when Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner hit receiver Drew Dileo for a 45-yard pitch and catch. Thomas Rawls added a two-yard run for Michigan's second touchdown of the game.

For Michigan, the big story on Saturday is actually that Gardner is playing quarterback at all. The former quarterback who was converted to wide receiver in the offseason, was forced back under center thanks to an injury to Denard Robinson.

Robinson suffered nerve damage in his elbow last week against Nebraska and was ruled out of action just moments before Saturday's kickoff.

It's been a slow start for both Michigan and Minnesota, and after one quarter of play in Minneapolis, the score is tied at 0-0.

Entering Saturday's game, the big news came just prior to kickoff, when Michigan announced senior quarterback Denard Robinson would not suit up for the Wolverines. Robinson suffered an elbow injury in the Wolverines' loss last Saturday at Nebraska, but was still expected to start Saturday.

Still, Robinson's absence doesn't appear to have sparked Minnesota to pull the upset.

Early on, the Gophers have struggled moving the ball, even as quarterback Philip Nelson is now making his third career start. Nelson has gone just 2-of-5 in passes for the Gophers in the first quarter for 26 yards. Donnell Kirkwood has 20 yards on seven carries and Rodrick Williams Jr. has 20 yards on three carries to lead the Gophers' offense.

Things haven't been much better for Michigan. With Devin Gardner under center, the Wolverines have accounted for just nine yards of total offense through the one period of play.

James White and Montee Ball combined for five touchdowns, as Wisconsin cruised to a 38-13 over rival Minnesota. It was the Badgers ninth straight win over the Gophers, as Paul Bunyan's Axe again returns to Madison.

For the ninth straight year, Paul Bunyan’s Axe will return to Madison, with Wisconsin's 38-13 win over Minnesota Saturday afternoon.

More important than the win itself for Wisconsin, was how the Badgers got the victory. And they got it with the return of their dominant rushing attack.

Backs James White and Montee Ball were the difference Saturday, as the pair combined for a staggering 341 yards and five touchdowns. White got the scoring going early for the Badgers, with a touchdown run in each of the first, second and third quarters, before Ball added a pair of his own to blow the game open in the fourth. Quarterback Joe Stave added 107 yards passing for the Badgers, who improved to 6-2 and 3-1 in league play with the win.

With the victory, the Badgers remain atop the Big Ten Leaders Division standings, in pursuit of their third straight conference title.

As for Minnesota, it was a tough loss for the Gophers, who now fall to 0-3 in Big Ten play after a 4-0 beginning to the 2012 season. True freshman quarterback Philip Nelson struggled in his first career start, throwing two interceptions to go along with two touchdowns as well.

Box Score Hero: The answer here is James White, who had a breakout afternoon, finishing with three touchdown runs and a season-high 179 yards rushing.

Rankings Ramifications: It depends on how the rest of the afternoon shakes out, but with five wins in their last six games, and a 3-1 mark in Big Ten play, it does appear Wisconsin could re-enter the Top 25 for the first time since early September. At 4-3, there is no chance that Minnesota will find themselves anywhere near the rankings when they come out later in the weekend.

But Did They Cover? Yes.
