Laurence Maroney Arrested On Drug, Weapons Charges

For those of you that have been wondering what former Gophers great Laurence Maroney has been up to since being traded to the Denver Broncos and pretty much disappearing off the face of the planet (he had 36 carries for 74 yards for Denver this season), it appears as though we have our answer.

Maroney was arrested in St. Louis overnight, as he and three other men were in a car that was pulled over by police. The men are being held on "unlawful weapons charges and drug charges," according to KMOV in St. Louis.

Maroney is one of the Gophers' all-time great running backs, but this incident should be enough to solidify him as a complete flop in the NFL. Since being selected by the New England Patriots with the 21st overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, Maroney has failed to live up to what was thought to be enormous potential. He has started only 17 of 49 career games, and has never rushed for more than 835 yards in a season
