Minnesota Golden Gophers Drop Slightly In College Basketball Rankings

After their tough loss to Purdue on Saturday, one may have expected the Minnesota Golden Gophers to make a slight drop in this week's NCAA Basketball polls, and that's exactly what's happened.

We'll start with the Associated Press poll, where the Golden Gophers have experienced a two-spot drop. They were ranked at number 16 in America at this time last week, but the AP folks have now moved them down to number 18.

As far as Big Ten teams in the rankings, Ohio State. . .who is the last undefeated team in America and who the Gophers will host this Sunday. . .was a unanimous number one selection. Purdue slots in at number 11, and Wisconsin is right behind the Gopher at number 19. The rest of the men's basketball teams in the Big Ten have fallen out of the AP Top 25.

Moving on to the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, the Gophers have dropped two spots there as well. In last week's poll, they were ranked at number 18, and now find themselves down at number 20.

Ohio State was once again a unanimous top selection in the coaches poll. Purdue is ranked at number 10 by the coaches, Wisconsin is actually ahead of the Gophers in this poll, sitting at number 18, and the Illinois Fighting Illini sneak into the coaches poll at number 24.
