MarQueis Gray Became A Father Yesterday

MarQueis Gray had a bit of a rough performance for the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday afternoon when the team lost 42-13 to the Wisconsin Badgers. It turns out that he might have had a pretty good reason.

On Friday night, the Gophers' quarterback became the father of twins, MarShawn and MarZell. My guess is that he didn't get a whole lot of rest prior to this afternoon's game. Not that Gophers' coach Jerry Kill used that as an excuse.

"I think in his situation, he's got a lot on his plate right now," Gophers coach Jerry Kill said. "We were concerned whether he was going to play or not. He played hurt today, and to be honest with you, I'm encouraged by that."

Kill is referencing a back injury that Gray suffered against Michigan State last week.

In a related note, when he went back to the hospital after the game, Gray mentioned via Twitter that he saw the family of Wisconsin center Peter Konz, who was injured late in the game and had to be carted off of the field. No word on Konz's condition, but hopefully he's in less trouble than it initially looked.

In any event, congratulations to Marqueis Gray, his girlfriend, and their new additions.
