National Early Signing Day: Golden Gophers Add Two Commitments

For more on the Golden Gophers, visit SB Nation's The Daily Gopher.

Today is the first day of the early signing day for college basketball, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers are expected to add two early commitments to their 2012 recruiting class. Charles Buggs and Wally Ellenson, both three-star prospects according to Rivals.com, are expected to sign their National letter of intent today.

Buggs is the newest commitment as a 6'8" power forward from Hargrave Military Academy:

The Gophers are expected to announce the addition of Buggs and Rice Lake (Wis.) wing Wally Ellenson today on the first day of the early-signing period. Buggs and Ellenson are three-star recruits by Rivals.com and ESPN.com.

The Golden Gophers will need Buggs as a boost to its frontcourt once Trevor Mbakwe and Ralph Sampson III finish their careers in the Twin Cities. Buggs made his official visit to Minnesota in late September and chose the Golden Gophers over offers from Clemson, Santa Clara, and Arkansas. He is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds so far this year.
