NCAA Basketball Rankings: Gophers Drop Out Of AP Poll, Hang On In Coaches Poll

The latest NCAA Men's Basketball rankings are out, and as you'd probably expect for a team that's lost three consecutive games in Big Ten conference play, the Minnesota Golden Gophers are slowly descending down the rankings.

This week, they've dropped out of the Associated Press poll entirely, which has got to be disheartening because, at this time two weeks ago, that poll considered Goldy to be the 15th-best team in America. As a matter of fact, the Big Ten is down to three teams in the AP Top 25. . .the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, the Wisconsin Badgers (who check in at number 13), and the Purdue Boilermakers (who are right behind them at number 14).

Over in the coaches poll, the Gophers have managed to hang on by the skin of their (very ample) teeth, slotting in at number 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. That gives the Big Ten four teams in the ESPN/Coaches Poll Top 25 to go along with Ohio State (number 1 once again, obviously), Purdue (coming in at number 12), and Wisconsin (who shows up at number 14).

In the poll over at the mothership, SB Nation voters have booted the Gophers off of the proverbial island, but they were the first team in the "also receiving votes" category.
