Big Ten Tournament 2011: Penn State Edges Indiana, 61-55

The Penn State Nittany Lions didn't make it easy on themselves, but they ultimately got the job done in the first round of the Big Ten tournament with a 61-55 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers.

Penn State went into the locker room with a 28-27 lead thanks to a last-second tip-in by Jeff Brooks, and although Indiana managed to keep it close in the second half, they never regained the lead after halftime.

Brooks led the Nittany Lions with 15 points, and Talor Battle added 13 for the victors, who will move on to play the Wisconsin Badgers in tomorrow's tournament action. The Hoosiers were paced by Christian Watford's 15 points. Indiana has now wrapped up their third consecutive losing season, the first time that has happened since 1967-70.

With that, the Big Ten Tournament schedule for tomorrow is set. The action will kick off with the game between Ohio State and Northwestern, and that will be followed by Illinois and Michigan. Purdue and Michigan State will kick off the evening session, and the final game of the night will pit Wisconsin against Penn State.

We will continue to have all of the coverage here for you at SB Nation Minnesota.
