The University of Arkansas fired their head basketball coach, John Pelfrey, today after he had been the Razorbacks' coach for four seasons. According to Myron P. Medcalf of the Star-Tribune,
↵↵↵↵The report said Smith has had face-to-face contact with that school's officials and was "close" to leaving Minnesota to take the Arkansas gig.

Well. . .considering that just a week or so ago, Smith had said that he liked Minnesota, that his wife liked Minnesota, and that he was hoping to stay in Minnesota, he sure does have a funny way of showing the proverbial love.
↵Smith has been the Gophers' head coach for four years, and oversaw an epic collapse by the team this season. Not sure how many people would be happy to see him go. . .however, pulling the Nick Saban-esque move of leaving after swearing up and down how much you want to stay would probably push some of the Gopher faithful in that direction.
