Bubble Watch: Minnesota Finally, Officially, Off The Bubble

The loss suffered by the Minnesota Golden Gophers last night against the Northwestern Wildcats was their eleventh Big Ten loss of the season, and it appears that was finally. . .mercifully. . .enough to make the folks at SB Nation remove the Gophers from the NCAA Tournament "bubble." Realistically, the Gophers were off the bubble a long time ago, but now it's official.

With no more than 18 regular season wins being a possibility. . .which is sad for a team that was 16-4 in late January. . .and a best possible conference record of 7-11, the only way the Gophers are going to find themselves in the NCAA Tournament would be an improbable run through the Big Ten Conference tournament that gets underway next week.

At the rate this team is going, they may be a one-and-done in the NIT, too, never mind any delusions about the NCAA tournament. How long ago does that tournament victory in Puerto Rico seem now?
